The word column has been known since ancient times, when they were still made by hand by hired slaves. Only then they were not very even and as beautiful as they are now. Nowadays, the fashion of ancient Rome or classicism is gaining momentum again. Modern buildings cannot be imagined without such an entrance group as decorative columns. From the Latin word column means a pillar designed in the intended architectural style. Columns are considered complete when they consist of rounded parts and include a capital, trunk and base. But now it’s even fashionable to make semi-columns at the entrance to the building, which seem to look out from the facade itself. Another unnoticed element is the pilasters, which are somewhat reminiscent of a round column, only they have a flat shape. Finishing with pilasters allows you to make the design of your home interesting and rich. Even during the birth of the Baroque, it was noticed that the use of double pilasters, complex pilasters with half-columns, or even ordinary pilasters of rectangular section, but of different depths, makes the decor of the house dynamic. That is, from different vantage points, the faade of a cottage or country house will be perceived differently and will reveal new interesting facets. And architects are happy to use this property of pilasters in our time.
