Why do you need to use special glue for stucco molding?

Publication date: 20 August 2015

The benefits of using stucco elements are appreciated by an increasing number of professional designers and people far from the intricacies of interior decoration. Stucco molding is relevant at all times; using it, you can create a bright, stylish look for the room. Modern stucco is most often made from polyurethane, polystyrene foam and expanded polystyrene. In order for the decor to delight with its pristine beauty for a long time, when choosing, you need to pay close attention to the selection of glue. You also need to approach installation responsibly.

Before installation, all decorative elements must remain in the room in which they will subsequently be glued for 24 hours. This will allow the stucco molding to “get used” to the room - its temperature and humidity. The walls also need some preparation: you need to remove old wallpaper and glue residues. Experts recommend carrying out basic work at a temperature not lower than 10 degrees, and the humidity level should not exceed 65%.

When selecting, for example, moldings or ceiling cornices , you should calculate the required number of products: losses when cutting a corner are on average 10 cm. The correct junction of the cornices with the pattern also implies the purchase of more units of goods.

Some craftsmen recommend purchasing “liquid nails” or even putty to install stucco. However, these substances are inelastic, and over time an unfortunate incident may occur: the molded elements will simply fall off. The use of special mounting and joining adhesive for decorative stucco elements will help to minimize this risk.

Mounting adhesive will securely attach the element to any surface. By choosing a strong-hold adhesive, the buyer is guaranteed to ensure a long service life for the stucco decoration. The range of installation adhesives allows you to choose the composition for installing polyurethane stucco even in a room with high humidity.

Docking adhesive is necessary for instant fixation of parts. When frozen, parts of the stucco decoration do not even have the slightest opportunity to move, as a result the ensemble turns out to be holistically perfect. The advantages of using joint adhesives include:

- if necessary, can be painted and cleaned with sandpaper;

- can be used even at sub-zero temperatures;

- within 30 minutes after installation, if necessary, defects can be corrected. Experts note that the use of joint adhesive is mandatory when installing polyurethane products: this helps minimize the risk of cracks forming at the joints.
